We are continuing our series on de-stressing in your business.

In this post, we’re going to discuss, “It’s time to make changes to your business practices when…” We’re going to talk about four things, and when these four things happen, you know it is time to make changes.

Business Practice Changes

Your Business Rules Your Life

If clients or people that are a part of your business world are calling, texting, or reaching out at all hours of the day, then your business is ruling your life. Boundaries are important to you, and you should make sure people you are doing business with, know and understand your boundaries. You must let them know from the start and implement them from the beginning.

You Feel Burned Out

Business burnout comes when you are solely responsible for completing every single task in your business or you don’t set boundaries. Burnout happens when work infringes on family time. The ultimate result is that you end up sick, and you want to throw in the towel and quit.

Your brain and body need time to relax and regroup. This is why a good night’s sleep is important to your physical health. Constantly thinking about your business without a break is a natural case of burnout. Consider outsourcing some tasks, whether they be admin, social media, or marketing, and leaving some work at the office or home office.

You Don’t Have Free Time with Family and Friends

Your family and friends will certainly complain if you fall off the face of the earth while working your business. But these complaints may one day turn into resentment. A spouse may resent being the sole caregiver while you work all hours of the day. Your kids may feel like you love your business more than you love them. Your friends may get tired of you not taking them up on their invitations.

Without a strong support structure, your efforts to leave a legacy, may leave you all alone in the world.

You Spend More Time on Administrative Tasks

If you find yourself spending more time on administrative tasks than you do with the parts of your business that are more important.

If you’re an author, you’re doing administrative work instead of writing. If you’re a speaker, you’re doing admin work instead of doing what you love. If you’re a coach, you’re doing admin work instead of coaching clients. If your primary purpose is to help others, then why are you spending more time on your admin work than doing those things?

You need to market yourself, but this can be done in other ways. You can hire someone to help you; that way, you can stay focused instead of worrying. Change isn’t easy, especially when you’re talking about changing things that have become such an ingrained part of you. But the right changes can breathe new life into your business.

I want to let you know that you can get help, and it doesn’t have to be scary. I offer a free consult as a virtual assistant to authors, coaches, and speakers. I would love to talk with you about the possibility of working together. If I’m not the right fit, I will refer you to someone who is, because I have a great network of virtual assistants that I would love to share with you.

I hope that this was helpful and that you will find ways to de-stress your business. After all, we got into business to not only make an income, but also to create a great life for ourselves. So don’t ever forget that, and don’t get burned out.

If you haven’t joined me in our Facebook group, The Christian Business Advantage Facebook group, it is a great place to connect with other authors, speakers, and coaches.
