Someone Finds You
Email marketing is my favorite. Different platforms serve different purposes. Social media—you’re discovered. YouTube builds authority. Podcast—builds trust. Emails—deepen relationships. Follow the journey from discovery to becoming a known, trusted client.
Lead Magnet
The first step is a lead magnet. We are not just growing a list. We want to attract people and have them be genuinely interested. Focus on the relationship. A lead magnet is a free offer in exchange for an email address. This could be a

Different types of format are not the most important. This was mentioned in the previous episode from the conference. The biggest mistake is being too broad. Leave them wanting more. You do not want to teach them everything at once. What is their problem at the present time? Also, how can you help them?
This is your start.
Your lead magnet should connect to what you are selling. However, it should not directly sell your service. What happens when someone downloads your freebie is important. They download your freebie from the email, and where does the conversation go from there? How can you continue helping them? Keeping the conversation going in deepening the relationship is something that has to be thought of when thinking of the lead magnet.
Email list
Your email list is very important; it is the beginning of your subscriber-to-superfan journey. It is not just a list of the number of people you got to your page. Although social media is important as well to be able to have your own web presence to place your lead magnet.
Firstly, someone gets their attention caught by your social media presence. In other words, they discover you from your form of social media. They see your lead magnet and are intrigued enough to send their email address. This place is where they not only see your lead magnet but also how they learn more about you and your resources and services. If you have a lead magnet thought up, challenge it. Just by asking a few simple questions. Make sure to ask if the lead magnet has a connection to your service you’re providing. Is it attracting the people you want to work with? Also, is it solving a problem?
Don’t worry if you have not found a lead magnet yet. To create one, start by asking the questions that I’ve mentioned.
How to start
- What is their problem that needs solving?
- What are they struggling with?
- What type of person do you want to attract?
- What will make them say, “Yes, I need that”?
- What do you offer that can help them?
- How will the conversation continue?
Later in the series we will talk about what to do after someone has discovered you. Trusted you to send an email and downloaded the freebie. This will begin your relationship and journey from subscriber to super-fan. Thank you for participating in this episode.
Please share with any authors, speakers, or a coach who may need help building their email list.
