Renew & Recharge: Protect Your Peace Before Year-End

Today we’re ending the month with an important reminder. Your piece is worth protecting. As business owners, it’s so easy to keep pushing until we are burnt out, especially right before the holidays.

But before you cross that finish line, I want to help you to renew your spirit and recharge your energy. So how about a 1, 2, 3?

#1 – Recognize the signs of burnout, emotional exhaustion, a loss of motivation and irritability. Irritability, or signed drawer tank is empty. Remember, rest isn’t a reward. It is a requirement. Even Jesus withdrew to quiet places, and if he needed rest we certainly do. Number two, schedule some Sabbath moment moments.

#2 – Schedule some Sabbath moments. You may not be able to take the full week off, but you can create many Sabbath spaces. You might block out an afternoon for rest or reflection.

You might turn off your notifications for 24 hours, or you can just take a thankfulness walk without your phone. Trust me, we could all use one of those things for sure. Rest will help you to refresh your creativity and help you return to your work with vision. And that’s all. That’s what we all want. And then you must,

#3 – Release control. You won’t finish every task this year, and that’s okay. God is still at work in what feels unfinished. And when we remember to surrender the shoulds, we make space for that peace that he can provide to us. And that’s so important. I feel like sometimes I forget to. Take those Sabbath moments and I forget to release that control.

So I want to be honest, you know that if that’s something you struggle with, I don’t think you’re alone in that struggle. And the Bible says in Matthew 11: 28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

True productivity flows from that rest, not from striving. So remember to take one intentional day this week to unplug from your business and do so by doing something that fills your soul.

Maybe that was worshiping, journaling, baking, walking, or spending time with a loved one. Your peace is part of your ministry. So friend, finishing well doesn’t mean finishing everything. It means finishing faithfully, protecting your peace. Honoring your limits and letting God handle the rest ’cause remember, you are doing holy work and he is so proud of you for showing up and so am I.
