In this episode of the Christian Business Advantage Podcast, I’m sharing how to leverage email marketing to boost holiday sales! I want to remind you of how important email marketing is during any time of the year as a business owner, especially as an author, speaker or coach. Even if you’re starting from scratch during this fourth quarter of the year, I walk you through how to build your email list and how to create engaging holiday email campaigns. You’ll also learn tips for offering limited-time discounts, creating holiday bundles and automating your emails to save time. I include actionable strategies to increase your holiday sales and effectively reach your audience with faith-centered messages that resonate, all through leveraging email marketing!

Leveraging Email Marketing to Drive Holiday Sales

My goal is to help you connect with your audience, grow your business and spread your message in a way that honors God. An effective method to achieving this is through email marketing!

You have the opportunity to earn more in Quarter Four by using holiday promotions to drive traffic and gain sales for your business. There’s a huge opportunity as well to connect with your audience during the holiday season when people are seeking gifts with a meaningful purpose.

This season aligns with our values as Christian authors and speakers, and creates a unique way for us to market our faith-based products and services. If you can time your email marketing, this can strengthen your relationship with your audience and increase sales.

Start and Build An Email List

One of the most important things is to have a strong email list.

Don’t worry if you do not have an email list. But it’s important to start one! If you start it right now, we still have a month and a half before the holiday season begins.

  • Offer a freebie, such as a devotional, a holiday guide, or a checklist to attract new subscribers.
  • Partner with other Christian authors, speakers and coaches to help build your list. Maybe you could partner together to offer a holiday guide.

Really build and nurture those relationships, whether that be with the people on your email list or with others whom you collaborate in a partnership. Collaborations are huge in business and can really help you!

Plan An Email Series

Consider crafting a holiday specific email campaign.

  • Write subject lines that really stand out.
  • Create a faith-centered message that resonates with your audience during this holiday season.
  • Take some time to sit down and plan out your email series.
  • Talk about and build up some excitement around the holiday sales or opportunities that are coming to your list. They’re not here yet, but there’s something around the bend to make them want to open your next email!
  • Incorporate some storytelling. Share how your book, your course, or your service can make meaningful holiday gifts that inspire and uplift people in the lives of those audience members or email subscribers.
  • Use a Call To Action that emphasizes urgency. You want to limit your offers to a specific amount of time so that they feel a sense of urgency. Run a sale for a week or three days or something like that, so there is a sense of urgency for them to purchase.
  • Convey how your particular product, course, service or book speaks to that person’s values and their faith.

Plan a Special Offer

  • Some ideas for holiday promotions and offers are to do some themes, discount some of your books or create a holiday bundle set. Maybe you have a book, or a devotional with a journal or a course that you can bundle together. If you’re a coach, you can personalize some offerings for coaching sessions.
  • Discuss early bird offers just for your email subscribers. Perhaps offer a bundle to everyone that comes to your website – even if they’re not on your email list – but only have an early bird offer available to your email subscribers. Then give your subscribers a unique coupon code to use. You want to make your email subscribers feel loved and cared about.

Align your promotions with a spirit of giving and of service during this time of the year.

Automate

  • Automate your holiday campaigns, scheduling them out in advance so that you can focus on the rest of your business (and of course on your family and friends during the holiday season.)
  • Set up some automated workflows to run behind the scenes and make sure that you have tracking in place to see how well your email marketing campaigns are doing. You can adjust them if necessary.
  • Start planning now to make the most of the holiday season!

Remember that the true goal is not just sales, but it’s spreading the message you have to share with others. That is, we will glorify God and help others grow in their faith!
